Step 1: Install Meeri from the Shopify App Store

Visit the Meeri listing on the Shopify App Store and click "Add app." You'll be prompted to log in to your Shopify admin if you're not already signed in. Review the permissions Meeri requests — these are standard for apps that need to track cart and browsing behaviour — and approve the installation.

Step 2: Configure your opt-in prompt

Once installed, open Meeri in your Shopify admin and navigate to the opt-in settings. This is where you configure how the browser's native push notification prompt will be presented to your visitors.

The browser opt-in prompt itself is controlled by the browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) — you can't style it — but you can control when it appears. The key setting here is the trigger: when should Meeri ask visitors to subscribe?

  • Immediately on page load: Maximum subscriber growth, but can feel abrupt for first-time visitors.
  • After a time delay (5–10 seconds): Gives visitors a moment to engage with your store first, which typically improves opt-in rates.
  • On exit intent: Appears when the visitor moves to close the tab, catching them at a natural exit point.

For most stores, a 5-second delay produces the best balance of subscriber growth and opt-in quality. Set this, save your settings, and move on.

Step 3: Set up your abandoned cart recovery campaign

Navigate to Campaigns in the Meeri dashboard and select "Abandoned Cart Recovery." This campaign type is automated — you configure it once, and it fires automatically whenever a subscriber abandons their cart.

The welcome notification should introduce your store warmly, set expectations ("You'll hear from us about exclusive deals and new arrivals"), and ideally include a first-subscriber incentive. Even a 5% welcome discount can convert a brand-new subscriber into a buyer within hours.

You're live — what happens next

From this point, Meeri runs automatically. As visitors arrive on your store and accept the opt-in prompt, they join your subscriber list. When they abandon a cart, the recovery notification fires at the scheduled time. When they convert, the notification sequence stops.
